Getting Real in the Outdoors.

This weekend, hubs and I went camping.
We had a good relaxing time just getting lost in the woods
and being out of cell phone range.

Breakfast was yummy! Each day!
We ate like kings!

And cooked over the fire the whole long weekend!
Hubs did a great job keeping the fire at perfect temp.
See... :)
And the view was just unbelievable!
I love living here!

Continued Growth...

The garden continues to get bigger each day. We've already been able to enjoy a green pepper and Hubs has loved the radishes. And with the plants all getting their larger leaves, we haven't had to water as much, which brings me great joy!

The lettuce is getting bigger too. Although I'm not quite sure when to chop the Spinach...
looks to be getting a little large. Maybe now is the time?!

And the little cherry tomatoes look wonderful! Hubs will be happy when he can finally start popping them. I can't wait to use them to brighten up culinary masterpieces. :)
And the broccoli is getting big too!And my basil is starting to grow too.
It looked to be a weak little thing for a while there.

And the peas, green beans, peppers, squash, corn, etc, etc...
they are all getting their flowers ready to start blooming and producing fruit!

And update to a past post... our house was ant free this morning! Praise God!

Christmas is in June now...just so you know

Er.

So I met up with mom after work to run a couple errands,
do a little shopping and of course we just had to stop by Hobby Lobby.

The place is one of my favorite places in the world.
Always new things to look at, crafts to dream about,
and ideas free flowing through the air vents in the ceiling.

But Christmas?!? In JUNE!?!
Crazy! It's just too early!

Maybe that's why I've been a little stressed lately.
Because more and more reminders that time is flying by quickly
and before we know it...

Christmas will be here.

Oh dear.

Unexpected Guests

We have some very unexpected guests this morning. And I'm not talking about the run of the mill door-to-door salesmen, or the little dirt flies that have ruled my indoor plants for the past couple months, or the pigeons cooing up a mess in our rafters.

I opened the front door this morning to find thousands of ants - the trailing and the flying kind - all up on my porch, hanging out next to the house, coming in the front door, and randomly in my windowsills and walking around on my carpet.--------------------------------------------
Side Note:
I was doing a little research on the little buggers and this was my favorite way to "kill ants without pesticides":

Finger Method

  1. Place finger over ant.
  2. Push finger firmly on ant.
  3. Twist and roll finger so the carcass will stick to said finger.
  4. Repeat if necessary.
  5. Wash Hands as ants are dirty.
Haha. Funny.

And Remember when we used to do this as kids?:

Magifying Glass Method

  1. You will need a Magifying glass, any kind will do.
  2. Will need the sun to be out.
  3. Place Magifying glass at an angle between sun and ant.
  4. Aim the spot of light created by magnifier to be on top of the ant.
  5. Watch the ant fry in seconds, repeat for hours of fun.
Good times. :)

------------------------------------

After an hour of hunting them down (I hate hate HATE the flying ones!), I think I've won. Or at least they have gone back down to whence they had come.

But beware little creatures! I am watching out for you and next time, borax will be on the menu!!

I hate ants!

Lettuce makes an entrance

Our garden is growing.
Day by day it is growing bigger and better
and it brings joy to my little ol' heart. :)

See the peppers...
And the tomatoes are starting to fill out...
Look! Cherry tomatoes!
Hubs will soon be able to gobble them up.
(I don't like tomatoes. Actually I'm a little allergic to them...
too acidic. But that's not a big deal. I love catchup!)
The corn continues to show improvement.
The saying is that it needs to be "knee high by July".
Think it'll get there? Maybe. :)
And the squash is bloomin now!
I think it really has enjoyed all the rain we've been getting.

AND......

Drum roll please!!
The extreme joy of my heart
sings out a song to the heavens!

We have a bunch of little lettuce bundles starting up now!
Just look at the growth, the leaves digging themselves out of the earth!

I was about to give up completely on them and now look... amazing!
I am terribly impatient.
Thankfully though, God doesn't make me wait too long. :)

I can't wait to have a fresh salad made of everything from our garden.
God is so good!

Catchup

It's finally almost the weekend. This week has been terribly busy again for both hubs and I. Other than our normal jobs, we've been working out, I played two outdoor games back to back last Saturday and then indoor on Sunday, working out in the garden and on the yard, helping out M&S on getting their place in order for one of their friends' wedding reception party, and I've been working on identity materials for my design & photography business any free moment I have. I really want to get it all in order but there are so many details and so little free time. But life is good.

I'm tired.
It has been a very tiring day.
Work has made it a very tiring week already... and it's only Tuesday!!
I'm still not done working.
Still at least another hour to go.
I'm typing while I'm waiting for a file to save.
Hubs isn't home yet.
He's had a long day too.
His truck broke down.
So did the second one.
Three trucks and 6 hours later, he finally "started" his day.
I wonder if I need to make dinner.
Eh, there's leftovers we need to eat. :)
I'm tired anyway.
Too tired to cook.
I need a nap.
But then I won't sleep tonight...again.
